The labs

01 · Generator & tube

X-Ray Circuit Trainer

Press a two-position hand switch and watch the circuit energize, from the autotransformer to the rotating anode.

  • Autotransformer, step-up, rectifier, filament circuit
  • Real tube photo with rotor and electron cloud
  • A hand radiograph forms as you expose
02 · Physics

EM Spectrum Explorer

Tune from radio to gamma with linked frequency, wavelength and energy, and see what each photon does to an atom.

  • Ionization boundary at 100 nm
  • Wave–particle duality and intensity
  • Photoelectric, Compton, pair production
03 · Beam

X-Ray Production Lab

Electrons hit the target and make heat, bremsstrahlung and characteristic x-rays. The spectrum and the patient respond live.

  • kVp, mA, target, generator, filtration
  • HVL, mean energy, characteristic share
  • Interactions in fat, tissue, bone, iodine
04 · Scatter control

Grid Lab

Choose grid ratio, frequency and type, then cause and fix every grid error on real radiographs.

  • Off-level, off-center, off-focus, upside-down
  • Bucky factor and contrast improvement
  • Moving vs. stationary grids
05 · Quality control

QA/QC Lab

Run 15 QC tests in a virtual room, record results in a QC log, and find the hidden faults in an audit room.

  • kVp, timer, linearity, reproducibility, HVL
  • Collimation, alignment, focal spot, processor
  • Detector, monitor and lead apron checks

How it works

Practice

Open any lab and change anything. Each lab has Predict-it questions and Fix-it challenges. No sign-in.

Class session

Your instructor starts a session and gets a code. Everyone's screen follows one driver, and the instructor can hand control to a student.

Predict it, live

In class, each student answers privately. The instructor sees the tally, then reveals the answer for the whole room.

For instructors
